Our
Mission
The
purpose of the Land for Learning Institute is to create
the opportunity for individuals to have life changing
experiences promoting personal growth and awareness
of the natural world through outdoor, experiential
environmental education programs. In the course of
building alliances and partnerships with schools and
organizations both public and private, the Land for
Learning Institute strives to empower individuals
to become caring and active stewards of their communities.

The Organization
As
a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, the
Land for Learning Institute (LFL) was created in 2002
in the vision of L. B. Sharp, the “Father of Outdoor
Education,” for the sole purpose of taking individuals
and groups “into the
outside” and connecting them with themselves, the
people around them and the natural world. Supporting
this vision, our founding staff has over forty years
combined experience in outdoor and environmental education
with degrees in Forestry, Outdoor Recreation, Geography,
and Environmental Education.
